Preventive Maintenance

For Holmatro Rescue Tools

Power Unit
1. Check power unit for external damage and oil leaks
2. Check frame/carrying handle for damage
3. Check for correct hydraulic oil output, correct if necessary
4. Inspect and clean intake screens on hydraulic system
5. Inspect/check plunger blocks
6. Clean hydraulic tank interior of all models except PPU and TPU pumps
7. Check selector valve for proper operation
8. Check couplers for damage and cleanliness
9. Check dust caps to ensure that they are present, clean, and working properly
10. Check pump output according to Holmatro specifications, 1 or 2 sets of couplers as apply
11. Change hydraulic oil and fill with Holmatro Hydraulic Mineral Oil
12. Check for external damage
13. Check for quick starting, and correct operation under full load. Motor RPMs should be set to Holmatro specs
14. Change the crank case motor oil
15. Check spark plug and replace if necessary
16. Check air filter and replace if necessary. Replace fuel filter.
17. Check starting cord for damage
18. Check muffler for damage and correct attachment
19. Check spark arrestor and clean or replace if unit has one electric motor
20. Check the switch for proper operation
21. Check cable and plug for damage and proper attachment
22. Check motor under full load

Spreader
1. Check the Tool for external damage and/or oil leakage
2. Check arms for visible distortions or damage
3. Remove tips, check for distortions or damage and clean
4. Check tip release pins for damage and clean
5. Check all hinge pins for damage, replace any distorted or rusted clips/snap rings
6. Check grease points. Clean all control and handle parts, arms, hinge pins and levers.
7. Inspect main valve
8. Replace all o-rings in handle assembly
9. Re-grease all control and handle parts with White Lithium grease
10. Re-grease metal-to-metal moving parts with synthetic grease
11. Check carrying handle for damage
12. Check yoke and plunger for any damage
13. Check and re-Torque all bolts and nuts according to Holmatro specs
14. Check couplers for dirt and damage. Clean coupler with WD-40.
15. Check pulling tips and chains for damage
16. Check pigtail hoses for hydraulic leaks or damage (twin line only)
17. Check for proper operation of safety relief valve
18. Replace all decals (except Model/Serial # Decal)

Cutter
1. Check the tool for external damage and/or oil leakage
2. Check blades for visible cracks, blunt edges, or distortions
3. Dress blade edges if necessary
4. Check all hinge pins for damage; replace any distorted or rusted clips/snap rings
5. Check grease points. Clean all handle parts, hinge pins, blades, and levers.
6. Re-grease all control and handle parts with White Lithium grease
7. Re-Grease metal-to-metal moving parts with synthetic grease
8. Check carrying handle for damage
9. Check yoke and plunger for any damage
10.Check and re-torque all bolts and nuts according to Holmatro specs
11 Check couplers for dirt or damage. Clean coupler with WD-40.
12.Check pigtail hoses for hydraulic leaks or damage (twin line only)
13 . Replace all decals (except Model/Serial # Decal)

Combi
Repeat the above check list with the addition of accessories
1. Check pulling chains for rust or damage
2. Check pulling tips for damage
3. Grease hinge parts and blades at least every six months or more if used in water, or in wet or dusty conditions.

Rams
1. Check the Tool for external damage and/or oil leakage
2. If ram has carrying handle, check for damage
3. Check grease points. Clean all control and handle parts.
4 Re-grease all control and handle parts with White Lithium grease
5 Check cross heads for damage. Remove, clean and re-grease with synthetic grease.
6. Check plunger. Extend fully open and look for any damage.
7. Check couplers for dirt or damage. Clean by removing dirt and spray with WD-40.
8. Check pigtail hoses for hydraulic leaks or damage
9. Replace all decals (except Model/Serial # Decal)
10. Check all accessories and ram extensions for damage
